I sought out yoga in my teenage years to learn relaxation and how to reduce anxiety. I began practicing with videos at home, at my local gym, and then explored various studios in the Western New York area. I have practiced Hatha, Baptiste, and Bikram in my study of yoga. Through regular practice, I’ve learned that yoga becomes a part of you. I have witnessed the benefits of yoga both on and off the mat. I’ve observed a shift towards being much more at peace in life.

While pursuing my Master’s in Social Work at the University at Buffalo, I took a course in Mindfulness and Yoga in Therapy, which deepened my understanding of how yoga improves mental health. I completed my MSW at UB in 2013. I’ve been employed as a Licensed Master in Social Work in a community mental health clinic and feel passionate about sharing my awareness of yoga and mindfulness with therapy clients. I am on a journey to share yoga with others, so that everyone can begin to see transformation in their everyday lives.

I recently completed my 200-hour teacher training through Rising Sun Yoga. During this training, I found out Iwas pregnant with my first child. This allowed me the opportunity to tailor my practice to the bodily changes that accompany pregnancy and with heightened mind-body awareness, I’ve learned to listen to my body even more closely. I faced my most challenging experience when my son was born 6 weeks early due to a medical emergency, and again witnessed how my yoga practice allowed me to remain grounded throughout this time. Now, I am a stay at home mom with my son, which is my greatest joy.

I am very passionate about being a part of the community at MBFY and am thrilled to join the team! I am excited to share my practice with yogis of all ages and walks of life, as I have seen the many benefits and peace it can create in one’s life.
