…Yoga has helped me deal with stress and anxiety because it forces me to put aside time for myself and to focus on the present. Yoga helps me to slow down the chatter in my mind. It forces me to breathe. My mind is constantly in rapid fire mode reminding me what I have to do later, what’s going on with my kids, how I could be better, worrying about tomorrow, etc. It’s really just unproductive and unhealthy.
My yoga practice helps me to push some of the nonsense out of my head. When you’re holding a plank or chair pose you can’t really think of anything else. I’m learning that a tough pose like that is really about forcing the negative thoughts out and bringing the positive thoughts in. It’s also about letting go and letting things be….
