It is with much sadness that I share that a member of our Mind Body Flow Yoga family and team of teachers is taking a leave of absence from Mind Body Flow Yoga, our very dear and beloved, Amanda Muldoon.

You may or may not know that our dear Amanda, underwent brain surgery, this past February. Inspiring, strong, determined, and warrior, are words that don’t even come close to capturing the beautiful essence that Amanda has embodied during this difficult journey. She is truly a force and a beautiful light.

Amanda has recently started having seizures, related to her brain surgery. Sometimes, they are silent, where no one would even know it is happening, and sometimes, they include convulsions. They are occurring more and more and although Amanda’s doctor just recently prescribed treatment, her doctor would like to keep a close eye on her over the next 3 – 6 months to ensure treatment is successful, and Amanda, wants to ensure that a seizure doesn’t occur while teaching.
For this reason, Amanda, is taking a leave of absence from teaching, for the time being, to take care of herself and see how the prescribed course of treatment goes. This is terribly difficult for Amanda, as she loves the MBFY community so very much. Our community means the world to her and it saddens her to have to depart from teaching for the time being.
There is no doubt in my mind that Amanda will be back with us in the near future. Although a difficult decision to make, I am so very proud of Amanda for taking the time she needs for herself right now, to honor her body and to practice self-care. This is the very lesson that’s cultivated through yoga…the importance of listening, honoring, and self-care.

Amanda, we are truly going to miss you at Mind Body Flow Yoga, during this time. We lift you up in our thoughts and prayers, and we excitedly await the day in which you return to teaching. We love you! You are a beautiful light and an inspiration to us all.

  1. Hi Amanda
I’m not sure if I have attended any of your classes yet , but I’d like to share that I have also had brain surgery. I took a year off from my yoga practice. I am now recently beginning again my practice again !! It is taking me a while to get back to where I was before surgery but I am positive that beginning again has given me a sense of accomplishment. Take whatever time is necessary. Only you will know when you’re ready again. But you will recover and be right back at it!! Good luck!! You will be practicing again soon !!!

    1. Thank you, Kim! It is always helpful to know your not alone and others have successfully taken on similar battles and have pushed and fought to the other side! I look forward to our paths crossing at some point in the future!

  2. Amanda,
Currently writing from Nashville — my family moved to Buffalo a year ago, and I searched for a studio that could be my home-away-from-my-home-studio here in Nashville that also practiced in the style of Baptiste, because of the encouragement to “be a yes.” Being a yes to discomfort, to radical change, to suffering, to joy. I hope that you find the support of your family, friends, studio, and yoga community at large as you continue through treatment, rehabilitation, and a new way of life. You are stronger than you think on your lowest days. Sending lots of vibes to help you bounce back. <3

    1. The positive vibes are what keeps me lifted and knowing there is such a strong community behind me keeps a smile on my face and light in my heart! Thank you!

You are making the right decision. You will be greatly missed, but if you are not helping yourself, how can you come back to help us. You are in my thoughts, and we will be here waiting for you when you return. Will miss you and best of luck.

I will definitely be praying for you and sending good thoughts your way. Seek peace in all you do at this time of discovery and recovery. I so look forward to your returning and wellness.
