My yoga journey really began in 2010. Before then, my practice was sporadic at best. I worked in a high stress job, working about 70 hours a week, sometimes 7 days a week, coupled with a lot of travel. Then in January of 2010, after fifteen years, it was over. The company closed its doors forever. For me, it was a sense of relief and freedom. I finally had my life back. The next day, I was in a yoga class and my world changed.
I walked into a class at six o’clock in the morning, not knowing what to expect at that hour. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun and how energizing the class was. The instructor was amazing, funny, and inspiring. I continued to take her classes because for me, they were exactly what yoga should be…free, fun and uplifting. I remember one morning as we were in chair, wincing, sweating and praying for a forward fold, she begins to play Michael Jackson’s “Beat It,” and the whole class just giggled a little and we all let go of the chatter in our brains, telling us to give up. After that day, I realized that this is what I want to do. I want to be able to put joy in the hearts of people the way she does.
My yoga practice became a huge part of my life. It opened my life to new adventures. I became a personal trainer and a yoga instructor, which allowed me to help people get healthy and feel better. Wanting more knowledge, I started a year-long yoga teacher training program, through the Himalayan Institute. I never realized that I would learn so much about myself, which in turn would help me to go from teaching an asana class to teaching yoga from the heart.
I am excited to teach and practice in the Mind Body Flow Yoga community. I am lucky to be teaching in a beautiful studio owned by the instructor that inspired me and showed me how fun and life changing yoga can be.
See you on the mat!
What a Student Said About Christine
Christine is an amazing yoga instructor for many reasons. She has a positive energy that I look forward to at 6am on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
That energy flows throughout the entire 60 minutes of class.
She has a way of convincing me that I can face any psychological and/or physical challenge that comes my way in class and that sticks with me outside of class as well.
Christine has been an inspiration since I took her first class over 1 and a half years ago.
I really enjoy taking classes from all the yoga instructors at Mind Body Flow yoga and I appreciate being part of such a supportive yoga community.
